The first randomized clinical trial (RCT) evidence for lasting symptom improvement after antibiotic treatment of persistent asthma.

This trial is also the first to report that C. pneumoniae IgA antibodies predicted worsening of asthma symptoms. There was also a suggestion that high antibody levels might be associated with treatment response.
