Hi Jim, I just wanted to write and thank you for maintaining asthma story website.
I am 46 and had bronchitis this last spring. Following the initial symptoms of coughing and wheezing and mucus my breathing never returned to what it had been. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe asthma by a pulmonoligist (Harvard graduate btw) that my family doctor sent me to see. I was still suffering despite the corticosteroid and albuterol I was using and started searching the Internet. I actually had come across your website several times but disregarded it thinking it would not be my situation.
Finally one day I started looking through it and listened to the NPR interview with Dr. Hahn and realized what he was describing nearly perfectly fit my situation. I bought Dr Hahn’s book and after reading several chapters started to think there may actually be hope. I went to see Dr Wagshul in Ohio which was roughly an 800-mile Drive for me but I would do it again in a second. I tested positive for mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria and I’m now several weeks into an antibiotic treatment of doxycycline and azithromycin. I can’t say I’m back to 100% yet but I am off all asthma medications and am worlds ahead of where I was just a few weeks ago and I literally feel like I have gotten my life back.
I just wanted to send a note and say thank you very much for all that you have done and continue to do. You are literally saving lives whether you realize it or not and I personally appreciate you, Dr Wagshul, Dr Hahn and your website.
